HARVEST 2014 ENDS IN THE DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN BINISSALEM (MALLORCA)
The harvest began on August 6 and ended on October 8.
The weather of spring and summer have caused an early harvest. High temperatures in September have accelerated maturation of the grape and have made this a very fast harvest.
Note that the health status and quality of the grapes we do provide a very good year.
The total harvested by wineries that protect wines under the brand Binissalem DO has been of 2,621,891 kg, which is 18% less than the previous year.
72% are red varieties and 28% white varieties.
The percentages for red varieties harvested were: 36.12% Manto negro, 26.73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13.68% Syrah , 16.13% Merlot, 3.97 % Tempranillo , 2.51% Callet, 0.73% Gorgollassa and 0.13% Monastrell. The percentages for white varieties were: 53.51% Moll or Premsal blanc , 37.71% Chardonnay , 5.49%Muscat , 1.98% Macabeo , 1.13% Giro Ros and 0.17% Parellada .
